Anonymous asked: Hi there I'm very new to Wicca umm and my parents are very Christian and are very hostile toward any other religion I love Wicca it's a beautiful and amazing religion that I try my best to follow but I am struggling to follow it with my parents what should I do?
I also grew up in a Christian household and the Bible Belt, so I understand any other religion is unacceptable, especially pagan based. I have always been pagan since I was 14 and I am 24 now, so my parents have adjusted with my spiritual path and they are perfectly fine with it. I guess it depends on how old you are and if you are still living under the same roof as them? If you are still living with them, then maybe keep your believes to yourself and share them with someone else that is interested. I do not start arguments with my parents about how paganism is better than christianity and this should never be done with anyone. All religions should be respected. Because I would not want someone doing that to me and harassing me about my beliefs. If someone is curious about your religion they will come to you. You can still follow your Wiccan path without your parents knowing, but even if they did they will see how dedicated you are and that it makes you who you are. Give an example that Wicca is not harmless and that Wiccans are not bad people. I practiced paganism in my room without my parents knowing, or they might’ve had a clue, but left me alone. I kept a box full of Book of Shadows about spells and my studies on witchcraft, I kept candles , crystals, and miscellaneous items that I found in nature. Today, I have a galore of stuff, but that is because I have been practicing a long time and I am not hiding it. My parents see that I am good person, I don’t make bad decisions, and they see I love the earth, so they know that paganism is not worshipping the devil or in their religion I am going to hell. I hope this helps you with your journey. If you have any other questions don’t be afraid to ask. I have been there and done that with hiding my religion from my parents! Always follow your heart. Good luck!
